I think Rudy's got the right idea for this long weekend. I plan on being lazy.
In crafting news, I need to finish Craig's man purse before he has a hissy fit and then I have several quilts planned out in my head. Oh and we move soon, so I trying to put off packing my crafting supplies for as long as possible.

finally, a finished product
one of my best and oldest friends got married this past weekend. i made this large throw quilt for her. i basically made it up as i went and i am very happy with the results. i am sort of strangely sad that i had to give it away but i know she will give it a good home.
this is my mom's porch, i don't even have a porch (until we move in a month that is!)
close ups on some of the fabrics:
and a close up on the quilting- i don't even mind all the mistakes.
there is something so satisfying about actually having finished such a large project and by my deadline too.

Amelie is one of my very favorite movies to watch while curled under a big blanket with some hot tea. I have watched it about 4 times a year since it came out and it never fails to put me in a good mood. It's a movie that appeciates the pleasures of small, ordinary things and reminds me to do the same. Today I needed this movie: the weather, the January/February blahs, my head cold, etc etc were all taking a toll on me. Now I am feeling much better.
It's really cold in Cleveland. All the schools are closed tomorrow because of it. Craig is in Arizona for two weeks. There'll be many sleepless nights for me until he returns (so cute you could puke, right?). I plan on getting some crafting done in the mean time.

A New Obsession
Wednesday, January 17, 2007
i have these owl beads i scored off of ebay many months ago and i love them but have no clue what to use them for. I had originally thought keychains but I dont know. For now, they are lined up on my bookshelf. Any ideas?
And here is Rudy ready to attack.
And finally one of two new pillows for the living room. Things are starting to look more polished and grown-up around here.

happy accidents
This may be my new favorite bag.
I have been working on a kalidescope quilt for a friend, using a templete I got as a gift for Christmas. I quickly realized that the precision needed for this block and for all the points too match up was beyond both my skill and patience level. Instead I chose to save two of my favorite ones and turn them into this tote. I put buttons in the middle to cover up my mistakes.
I love the look of the quilting on this back and the not quite straight lines.
Finally, a shot of the inside which is a pale green (it is grey and dreary outside so the colors are slightly off) and has a pocket with an elastic closure.
Plus, new fabric:
